Jennifer Lopez Reveals the One Movie She Wants to Give a Sequel — and It’s Her Biggest Box-Office Bomb!

Jennifer Lopez isn’t afraid to look back at her past—even the parts that critics tried to forget.

The multi-hyphenate star is sending shockwaves through social media after revealing which of her many films she’d most like to revisit for a sequel. During a viral appearance on Vogue’s ” Questions” video series, the singer and actress didn’t hesitate when asked the big question. Her answer? The infamous romantic crime comedy, Gigli.

If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Gigli has lived in Hollywood history as one of the biggest box-office bombs of all time. The film, which saw Lopez star alongside her now-husband Ben Affleck, famously earned only $ million against a staggering $ million budget.

In the video, the interviewer couldn’t help but react with a touch of sarcasm. After Lopez dropped the title, he jokingly replied, “Critically acclaimed,” which prompted a big laugh from the superstar.

While the film was panned by critics two decades ago for its “ham-fisted plot,” it holds a deeply sentimental place in Lopez’s heart. It was on the set of Gigli that she and Affleck first met and fell in love, sparking the “Bennifer” phenomenon that would take over the world (twice!).

Fans on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) are already divided on the idea of a “Gigli .” While some are calling for a redemption arc for the couple, others are reminding the internet that the film is often cited as one of the worst movies ever made.

“Honestly, with how much they’ve grown as actors, they could probably make it work now!” one fan commented on a viral clip of the interview. Another joked, “Only J.Lo could have the confidence to ask for a sequel to Gigli. We have to stan.”

Since the original film’s release, the couple’s careers have reached incredible new heights. Lopez has earned rave reviews for powerhouse performances in Hustlers and Out of Sight, while Affleck has become an Oscar-winning director.

Revisiting the characters of Larry Gigli and Ricki would certainly give the power couple a chance to prove the critics wrong. It would also mark a career first for Lopez, who has surprisingly never made a sequel to any of her films.

For now, J.Lo is staying busy with plenty of new projects. She’s set to star in the upcoming action-romance Shotgun Wedding and recently announced her first studio album in nine years, This Is Me… Now.

The new album is said to be a sister project to her record This Is Me… Then, heavily inspired by her rekindled romance with Ben. While a Gigli sequel might remain a dream for now, the Bennifer love story is clearly stronger than ever.
