Talk about a full-circle moment! Jennifer Lopez is officially returning to her roots, and the internet is losing its collective mind.
Twenty-eight years after she first faced off against a giant, man-eating snake in the cult classic Anaconda, the -year-old superstar has made a surprise appearance in the brand-new reboot starring Jack Black and Paul Rudd.
In the meta new film, Black and Rudd play two friends attempting to remake the original J.Lo movie. However, their DIY filmmaking journey takes a terrifying turn when they encounter a very real, very hungry reptile.
The moment sparking major buzz on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) features Lopez playing an “exaggerated” version of herself. She tracks down Black’s character, Doug McAllister, after he directed an unauthorized version of the movie without the rights.
“I saw your little movie, and I loved it. That’s why I’m here,” Lopez tells a stunned Black in the film. “I’m here because we’re doing another Anaconda, and I want you to direct it. Are you in?”
The proposal is apparently too much for Doug to handle—he promptly faints before he can even give the “Let’s Get Loud” singer an answer.
Fans are already hailing the cameo as a stroke of genius. “J.Lo embracing her horror roots is exactly what needed,” one fan commented on Instagram. Another added, “Seeing her back in the Anaconda universe is the ultimate s fever dream!”
While Lopez’s appearance is all smiles, Jack Black recently admitted that filming the snake-centric flick was a bit of a nightmare for him personally. Speaking to USA Today, the -year-old actor revealed he has suffered from “snake trauma” since his teens.
“A snake got loose in my house, and we found it hours later, slithering out of my mattress,” Black recalled. “It snuck into a hole in the mattress, and ever since then, they haunt my dreams.”
Beyond the slithering co-stars, Black noted that the physical demands of the jungle were “exhausting,” including a scene where he had to run with a -pound wild boar on his shoulders.
Lopez can certainly relate to the struggle. Back in , she opened up about the “rough gig” of filming the original in the Amazon alongside Jon Voight, Ice Cube, and Owen Wilson.
“You get water-logged, and you’re in your shower and you feel like you’re on the boat,” she joked at the time. “You’re, like, ‘Is the floor moving or is it me?’… It wasn’t an easy job, but it was fun.”
While the original was a “tough thing to film,” Lopez clearly has a soft spot for the franchise that helped cement her status as a leading lady.
Anaconda is currently slithering into theaters everywhere.
