Jennifer Lopez and ‘Ted Lasso’ Star Brett Goldstein Are Teaming Up for a New Netflix Rom-Com — and Fans Are Already Obsessed

By Mark Lopez 03/09/2026

The “Mother” is back to making us swoon! Jennifer Lopez is officially returning to her romantic comedy throne, and she’s bringing a very familiar “fing” face with her: Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein.

The duo is set to star in the upcoming Netflix original film Office Romance, and the internet is already losing its mind over the unexpected pairing.

The news comes after a heated “competitive bidding war” for the project, which Netflix ultimately won. It’s a major get for the streaming giant, especially considering the star power involved.

While Lopez has spent her recent Netflix residency kicking butt in high-octane action flicks like The Mother and the sci-fi thriller Atlas, fans have been vocal about wanting to see the Maid in Manhattan actress return to the genre that made her a legend.

“J.Lo in a rom-com is my love language,” one fan cheered on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after the announcement. “And with Roy Kent? I’m seated!”

Goldstein isn’t just showing up to be the leading man, either. The multi-talented Emmy winner is co-writing the script alongside Joe Kelly, his creative partner from the Ted Lasso writer’s room.

Between Goldstein’s dry, British wit and Kelly’s knack for heart-tugging comedy, the script is reportedly packed with “great character actor roles” that have industry insiders buzzing.

For Netflix, the partnership is a no-brainer. Despite mixed reviews from critics, Lopez’s projects have been absolute juggernauts for the platform.

The Mother currently sits as the ninth most-watched Netflix original movie of all time, boasting a staggering . million views. It’s clear that when J.Lo is on the thumbnail, the world hits play.

Goldstein is also riding a massive wave of momentum. Beyond his iconic turn as Roy Kent, he’s been busy as an executive producer and writer for Apple TV+’s hit series Shrinking, which returns for Season this fall.

The project is the latest win for Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions, which has a multi-year deal with the streamer. Both Lopez and Goldstein will serve as executive producers on the film.

While plot details are still being kept under wraps, the title Office Romance suggests we might be getting some classic workplace tension and witty banter.

Given Goldstein’s history of writing characters with “gold hearts and foul mouths” and Lopez’s undeniable screen presence, this is shaping up to be the streaming event of the year.

Stay tuned—we’ll be clocking in for this one as soon as it drops!
