Gal Gadot may be a global superhero now, but she originally just wanted a good story for the dinner table!
The Wonder Woman star, , made her highly anticipated debut on the season finale of the hit YouTube series Hot Ones on Wednesday. While tackling wings slathered in increasingly fiery sauces, Gadot took a trip down memory lane to discuss the viral “plot twist” of her early career: her Miss Israel win.
Between progressively heated mouthfuls, Gadot admitted to host Sean Evans that her journey to the crown was more of a “fun experiment” than a lifelong dream.
“When I went to Miss Israel in Israel, to begin with, I went for the experience and so I could tell my grandkids that grandma — and then I won and that was shocking,” she told Evans, . “I never meant to win, I came for fun, and all of a sudden — it’s funny, you’re , you’re not taking things very seriously.”
The revelation sparked an immediate wave of love on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, with fans praising her “accidental icon” energy. “Imagine accidentally becoming Miss Israel just for the vibes,” one fan joked, while another noted, “She really is the real-life Wonder Woman.”
Despite her pageant success, Gadot confessed that she didn’t always see herself in front of the camera. In fact, the mom of three—who shares daughters Alma, , Maya, , and Daniella, , with husband Jaron Varsano—revealed she was “as close as it gets” to quitting Hollywood to return to law school.
“I never thought about becoming an actress and the opportunity kind of came my way,” she shared, noting that the constant rejection in the industry almost sent her back to the classroom to support her family.
Thankfully for fans, she stuck it out. Her background as a combat fitness instructor in the Israel Defense Forces eventually paved the way for her high-octane stunt work in the Fast & Furious franchise and the DC Extended Universe.
During the interview, Gadot also dished on her upcoming Netflix spy thriller Heart of Stone, where she plays intelligence agent Rachel Stone. To prepare for the “raw and dynamic” action, she even sought out spicy-food advice from her costar Alia Bhatt.
“I got some tips from friends,” Gadot told Evans while pursing her lips to demonstrate a breathing technique. “Try not to let it touch the lips!”
