The world of international espionage is getting a major star-power upgrade!
Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan are officially set to star in Netflix’s upcoming spy thriller, Heart of Stone. The news, first reported by Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, has sent social media into a frenzy as fans celebrate the pairing of two of Hollywood’s most beloved A-listers.
While the film’s plot is currently being kept under wraps, the talent behind the camera is just as impressive as those in front of it. The project will be helmed by director Tom Harper, with a script co-written by Greg Rucka and Allison Schroeder.
The Wonder Woman star, , didn’t wait long to celebrate her new leading man. Taking to Instagram, Gadot shared the casting news with an enthusiastic message for her costar.
“Welcome to Heart of Stone @jamiedornan let’s kick some ass together and have fun doing it ,” she captioned the post. “Can’t wait to start this journey.”
Dornan, , also shared the news on his own account, marking another major win for the Irish actor. The casting comes at a high point for Dornan, who has been earning rave reviews and award nominations for his role in the semi-autobiographical drama Belfast.
In a recent chat with PEOPLE, Dornan opened up about the emotional experience of filming Belfast, revealing that the final day on set left the entire cast “in floods of tears.”
“I’ll never forget that moment,” Dornan told PEOPLE. “The privilege I felt to be in that movie with those people and have had that experience… was incredible.”
For Gadot, Heart of Stone is a continuation of her massive success with the streaming giant. Her recent heist flick, Red Notice, shattered records to become Netflix’s second most-watched film of all time.
And her schedule isn’t slowing down anytime soon. In addition to her new spy venture, Gadot is set to appear in Death on the Nile and is preparing to step into the sandals of an icon in a new Cleopatra epic.
Speaking with InStyle for their “Badass Women” issue, Gadot teased that her portrayal of the Egyptian queen will focus on her brilliance as well as her beauty.
“We’re going to show not just how sexy and appealing she was, but how strategic and smart, and how much impact she had,” Gadot shared.
With Heart of Stone moving into production, fans are already taking to X (formerly Twitter) to speculate if this could be the start of a brand-new franchise. Between Gadot’s action expertise and Dornan’s dramatic range, Netflix seems to have found the perfect formula for a hit.
