Gal Gadot is officially ready to embrace her dark side!

The Wonder Woman star is trading in her superhero armor for a royal crown, as she prepares to take on the iconic role of the Evil Queen in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Snow White.

While walking the red carpet at the premiere of her new film Red Notice on Wednesday, Gadot couldn’t hide her enthusiasm when speaking with PEOPLE about the casting news that has the internet buzzing.

“I can’t say much other than the fact that I’m so excited and I cannot wait to get into the shoes and the crown of the Evil Queen,” the -year-old actress gushed.

The news, first reported by Deadline, suggests that Gadot was the studio’s top choice for the role from the very beginning. It seems the feeling was mutual, as the actress was reportedly “intrigued” by the chance to follow in the footsteps of Hollywood icons like Angelina Jolie and Cate Blanchett, who both delivered legendary performances as Disney villains.

Social media was quick to react to the casting, with fans on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok celebrating the “perfect” choice. “Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen is the casting I didn’t know I needed,” one viral tweet read. “She’s going to be absolutely delicious in this role!”

Gadot will be starring opposite West Side Story breakout Rachel Zegler, who was previously cast as the titular princess. The film, directed by Marc Webb ( Days of Summer), promises to be a fresh take on the classic, expanding on the original story and music.

Adding even more magic to the production, the film will feature brand-new songs from the award-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul—the masterminds behind the music of La La Land and The Greatest Showman.

This remake is a major milestone for Disney, marking the first time the studio has revisited the Snow White story in live-action since the original animated masterpiece debuted years ago. While other studios have tackled the tale—like ’s Mirror, Mirror starring Julia Roberts and Snow White and the Huntsman with Charlize Theron—Disney is pulling out all the stops for this official reimagining.

Production is set to kick off in , joining Disney’s massive slate of live-action hits like Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, as well as the upcoming The Little Mermaid starring Halle Bailey.

One thing is for sure: with Gal Gadot bringing her undeniable star power to the throne, the Magic Mirror is going to have a very tough time choosing who is the fairest of them all!
