Can We Build It? Yes! Jennifer Lopez and Anthony Ramos Are Bringing a Latinx Twist to ‘Bob the Builder’ at Amazon

Get ready to grab your tool belts, because the world’s favorite fixer-upper is getting a major Hollywood glow-up!

After an intense bidding war that reportedly had industry giants like Netflix and DreamWorks squaring off, Amazon MGM Studios has officially nailed down the rights to the upcoming Bob the Builder animated feature film. And the team behind it? Pure star power.

The project is being produced by none other than Jennifer Lopez and her production company, Nuyorican Pictures, alongside ShadowMachine. While J.Lo is working her magic behind the scenes, Hamilton and Transformers star Anthony Ramos is set to voice the titular hero.

This isn’t just a simple trip down memory lane, though. The new film is set to put a fresh, vibrant spin on the British classic by telling Bob’s story through a Latinx lens.

The announcement has already sparked a wave of nostalgia and excitement across X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok. “Anthony Ramos as Bob the Builder is the casting I didn’t know I needed,” one fan cheered on social media.

The original Bob the Builder was a staple of late-s childhoods, running for seasons and nearly episodes. While the show has seen CGI reboots and specials like Mega Machines over the years, this theatrical-scale project marks a massive new chapter for the brand.

This movie is part of Mattel’s post-Barbie cinematic universe, joining a star-studded slate of upcoming toy-inspired films including Polly Pocket, American Girl, and even a Matchbox Cars movie.

While Lopez isn’t currently slated to lend her voice to the film, her influence as a producer ensures that the project will carry out its original vision of cultural representation and heart.

As of now, a release date remains under wraps. Since it’s an Amazon project, fans are wondering if it will head straight to Prime Video or get a full theatrical run. Given Mattel’s high aspirations following the billion-dollar success of Barbie, a big-screen debut seems like a safe bet.

One thing is for sure: with Ramos and Lopez at the helm, this construction project is in very good hands.

Would you like me to keep an eye out for the first teaser trailer or any updates on the supporting voice cast?
