Gal Gadot’s New Amazon Thriller Extends A 5-Year Streak After Zack Snyder’s Last DC Movie

After starring in Zack Snyder's Justice League, Gal Gadot started a new MPA trend with her movies, which continues in the upcoming Amazon thriller The Runner.

Gadot starred as Wonder Woman in several DC films, including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman, Justice League, and Wonder Woman 1984. In 2021, Zack Snyder's director's cut of Justice League was released on HBO Max and received an R rating from the MPA for violence and language.

Since then, Gadot has only starred in PG-13 movies, a five-year streak she's keeping alive with her next project, The Runner. The Amazon MGM Studios thriller has received a PG-13 rating for violent content, bloody images, sexual material, strong language, and a drug reference.

After Zack Snyder's Justice League was released in 2021, Gadot starred in Red Notice (PG-13 for violence, sexual references, and strong language), Death on the Nile (violence, bloody images, and sexual material), Heart of Stone (violence and language), and Snow White (violence, peril, thematic elements, and rude humor).

The actor also had uncredited appearances in Fast X, Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash, all of which received PG-13 ratings from the MPA as well. Gadot has since left the world of DC and the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman behind when James Gunn took over and rebooted the DC Universe.

Aside from continuing her PG-13 streak, The Runner also marks Gadot's first film since Disney's live-action Snow White bombed at the box office, grossing $205 million against a reported budget of $240 million to $270 million.

Reviews for Snow White were mostly negative, resulting in a 39% score on Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience score is much higher at 69%. The movie fared better on Disney+, where it topped the streaming charts.

The Runner is a thriller about an attorney, played by Gadot, who races against the clock to save her abducted son. She follows instructions sent by a mystery caller as time starts running out to prevent her child from facing even more danger. Homeland star Damian Lewis and short film actor Kenton Lloyd Morgan also star in the movie.

Kevin Macdonald, who helmed One Day in September, The Last King of Scotland, State of Play, and Whitney, directed The Runner from a script written by Mark Gibson. David Kosse serves as producer on the project, which was filmed in 2025.

Aside from playing Wonder Woman, Gadot has also starred in several Fast and the Furious movies as Gisele Yashar. Her other credits include Date Night, Knight and Day, Triple 9, Criminal, Keeping Up with the Joneses, Ralph Breaks the Internet, and Between Two Ferns: The Movie. On the small screen, the actor has appeared in The Beautiful Life in the United States and multiple Israeli shows.

Now, Gal Gadot is about to return to the big screen in The Runner, which has been rated PG-13 by the MPA, though Amazon MGM Studios has not announced a release date yet.
