Gal Gadot Is Going Full Villain! Why She ‘Changed’ Her Voice to Play the ‘Delicious’ Evil Queen in Disney’s Snow White

By Steven Jackson 03/09/2026

Gal Gadot is trading her golden lasso for a poisoned apple, and she’s leaning into every “delicious” bit of the darkness.

The Heart of Stone actress is sparking major online buzz after revealing the dramatic lengths she went to for her role as the Evil Queen in Disney’s upcoming live-action reimagining of Snow White. While she’s known for playing heroes, Gadot admits that playing the “first Disney villain” allowed her to tap into a much more theatrical side of her craft.

In a new cover story for Vogue Hong Kong, the -year-old star opened up about the “simply delightful” experience of joining the musical. “There was something so delicious with this part because it’s a fairy tale,” Gadot shared.

Because the film is a musical, Gadot felt she had a license to push the boundaries of her performance. “I could stretch my performance and make it so much more dramatic and so much more animated,” she said, adding that she even “changed her voice” to fully embody the iconic antagonist.

Social media is already abuzz with fans wondering exactly how the “Barbie energy” star will sound as the sinister monarch. X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok have been flooded with theories, especially after Gadot teased that she “did all these different things” to make the character pop.

But it wasn’t just the voice that changed—it was the entire vibe on set. Gadot previously told PEOPLE that her “heavy-as-hell” costume was so intense that it actually scared her fellow cast and crew members.

“Usually I make people talk to me, open and comfortable. With this one, I truly felt people were intimidated by me,” Gadot explained. Her costar Rachel Zegler, who plays Snow White, was quick to agree, noting that the look was “very intimidating” thanks to black lipstick, sharp nails, and dramatic lashes.

Beyond the aesthetics, Gadot is focused on bringing depth to a character who is usually seen as “flat” evil. She describes the dynamic between the Queen and Snow White as a “mother-daughter relationship in a weird way.”

“It’s what happens to a woman when she feels like she’s not relevant anymore, what can come out of her,” Gadot noted, highlighting the complexity of the Queen’s jealousy and obsession with being the “fairest of them all.”

Fans are eager to see this modernized take on the animated classic, which promises to be more than just a simple retread of the original. With Gadot promising a “theatrical” performance that speaks through her whole body, the release is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated cinematic events of the year.

“I can’t wait to watch it,” Gadot told Vogue Hong Kong. “I can’t wait to see how it all turns out.”
